En 2002 interpretó un personaje en la obra de teatro Diez negritos -basada en la novela policíaca de Agatha Christie-, con la que recorrió toda la geografía española a lo largo de 365 representaciones. En 2004 obtuvo el papel que la dio a conocer: Clara Osma en la serie de Telecinco, El Comisario, una serie de gran popularidad y audiencia con Tito Valverde y Juanjo Artero a la cabeza. Echevarría participó en esta serie durante tres años hasta finales de 2007. La actriz fue también una de las reporteras del programa Emisión Imposible, emitido durante todo el verano de 2000 en Telecinco Paula compagina su labor de actriz con la de presentadora de galas y la de imagen de varias marcas como Pantene, Decleor, Blanco, Vitalinea, Nintendo o Aire Barcelona de Rosa Clará. También ha sido el rostro de firmas internacionales como Intimissimi, North Sails o Double Agent. La actriz ha protagonizado diversos editoriales de moda, otras compañas de publicidad y es también embajadora de otras firmas como Tous a través de actos, eventos o presentaciones. Además, desde hace tres años lleva a cabo de lunes a viernes ininterrumpidamente un exitoso blog enmarcado dentro de la web de la revista ELLE llamado Tras la pista de Paula La intérprete cuenta en él algunos de los últimos acontecimientos de su vida. La fama y buena acogida de su espacio en la red es tal que en 2012 fue la personalidad nacional más buscada en Google en España.2 También es la española más seguida en la red social Instagram.3 Por otro lado, el grupo Udunia lanza a comienzos de 2013 una aplicación oficial con su nombre para móviles smartphone que supera ampliamente las 50.000 descargas. Todo ello en combinación la hace ser para muchos catalogada como la it-girl española, distinción con la que a pesar de todo la propia Paula no se identifica.
